Limestone is a rock of sedimentary origin composed principally of calcium carbonate (the mineral calcite) or the double carbonate of calcium and magnesium (the mineral dolomite) or some combination of these two minerals. Compact, dense, recrystallized limestone that take a polish is also classified as marble in trade practice and may be sold as limestone or as marble. Limestone is a hard, impervious and compact rock with very low water absorption. Limestone is essentially a Dolomite stone. Limestone has a high resistance in freezing and thawing conditions. Due to this, limestone can be used in any atmospheric condition without getting affected. Limestone has a very fine grained surface texture. Limestone slabs and tiles have a very good polishing effect. The most common colors of limestone are blue, green, brown, desert yellow and black. Limestone slabs and limestone tiles are available in both, natural and polished surfaces. Limestone slabs and limestone tiles are typically used for floorings, wall cladding, and vanity tops etc.
