The Water Jet Machine is based on continuous cutting technology, mainly used in other industrial fields (cleaning, demolishing and modifying structures in reinforced concrete). The utilization of Water Jet Machine in dimensional stone quarries is not very widespread. The Water Jet Machine disintegrates a portion of stone material by piercing it with a high-pressure (up to 350 MPa) water-jet. The Water Jet Machine is being successfully used in Granite quarries. The results of the Water Jet machine on marble and softer materials have not been satisfactory. The Water Jet Machine consists of a pressure generator tasked with supplying water and pressure and in the amount required, and a nozzle, from which the water spurts at a speed of 700 to 800 m/sec. Motorization of the Water Jet Machine may be electric ( about 90 to 110 HP) or diesel ( about 140 to 150 HP). The two parts can form a single unit – the mobile generator Water Jet Machine, that can move around be it self, or separate ones – the stationary generator Water Jet Machine. On some Water Jet Machine models the machine advancement is completely automatic, making it possible to work non-stop with no supervision and also rely on automatic halting in the case of mishaps and /or emergencies. Cuts can be made by the Water Jet Machine at any inclination, to depths of 2.5 to 3.6 meters, up to 8 m on certain models. Some important positive features of the Water Jet Machine are: low environmental impact, a healthier worksite (no dust or vibrations and little noise) and above all no dependence on the hardness of the material.
