Factory Introduction

The Tekmar factory, established in Bilecik in 1990, went into production in 1991 and, with the construction of additional production facilities in 1996, it now incorporates production facilities totalling 33,000 m2 built on an 85,000 m2 parcel of land. This high technology production facility works twenty-four hours a day to provide Tekmar customers with superior quality marble and unparalleled levels of service.

Bilecik Factory

With an annual production capacity of 2,000,000 m2, Tekmar is the unquestioned leader in the Turkish marble industry. Our factory is among the largest in the world, and the design of its construction and operating system draw on years of experience to ensure efficiency and uncompromising levels of quality. Located just five minutes from downtown Bilecik, our private helipad also makes it possible to reach our factory by helicopter. An on-going program of intensive investments in professional personnel and cutting-edge technology has allowed Tekmar to increase both production capacity and customer satisfaction.

The tiles manufactured at Tekmar are produced using marble from our own quarries. The Tekmar factory features 8 Pedrini multi-disc block cutters, 3 Pedrini complete tile lines, 3 Zonato tile machines and 3 Guglielmi splitting machines. This production technology allows Tekmar to produce tiles of international quality in thicknesses ranging from 1 cm to 2 cm or in custom thicknesses with a range of finishes, including polished, honed and unpolished as well as bevelled and unbevelled.

Four Barsanti and four Simec eighty-bladed gang-saws in two different sections of the factory cut blocks of our own quarries into slabs. These slabs then are polished using either one of Tekmar's 2 Pedrini slab polishing lines, a Simec slab polishing line or a Barsanti slab polishing line. Polished slabs move on to one of the 7 Pedrini bridge cutters at the plant, where they are cut into 50 x 50 cm, 60 x 60 cm and 100 x 100 cm tiles with thicknesses of from 2 - 6 cm. In keeping with Tekmar's commitment to meeting all of our customers' needs, a wide range of custom sizes are also available upon request.

In line with Tekmar's service-oriented approach, a stair tread machine, a skirting machine, 2 sink machines and a Monlevi single-head polishing line allow us to fill boutique orders and other special requests.

Muola (Yataoan)

At the factory in Yataoan quarries area we built to serve our customers faster and better, we are producing 400.000 m2 of marble using our 2 Este's, 1 rend machine, 1 tile line and 1 35-ton portal vinch.

Export and Shipping

Tekmar meets the full range of international packaging, labelling and shipping standards.

Tiles and slabs are packed at our factory in open-top or box containers in accordance with customer specifications. Our factory has 3 portal cranes with capacities of 40 tons, which make it possible to load blocks if desired.

When goods are to be transported by tractor trailer, special stabilization and protective devices are employed after loading to ensure that goods arrive in pristine condition. In addition, fixation and lashing procedures are designed to withstand even the most severe shipping conditions.

Tekmar is a major exporter of marble and marble products with an extensive international marketing network. Every month, Tekmar ships more than 300 containers of finished marble around the world from the United States to China, serving customers in more than 58 countries on 5 continents. Our Companys rapidly growing export sales are the clearest proof not only of the quality of our products but of the warm reception that has greeted them in markets across the globe.

Quality Control

The greatest factor in the considerable success Tekmar has achieved is, without question, the Company's emphasis on quality control. The quality assurance system in place on our production lines ensures continuous inspection of our marble, guaranteeing our customers only the highest quality products. On the cutting lines, hourly checks are made against a compass to ensure that blades are always in true. The experienced staff of our polishing line, most of whom are women, carefully scrutinize the settings on their equipment, taking care that, from the moment a piece of marble enters the line, until it is fully polished and finished, every step of the process is conducted in keeping with Tekmar and customer specifications.

As products come off the production line, they first undergo inspections made using a gloss- checker to assure that their polish meets Tekmar's stringent standards. They then enter color selection. After expert color grading, all marble products are then crated with the exception of two random samples removed from each crate. One of these is replaced in the crate after quality control, while the other is entered into the archives of Tekmar's marble library.

Marble Library

Tekmar's marble library is the first of its kind in the world. It represents an unparalleled long-term guarantee that Tekmar's customers will enjoy product continuity. All marble produced at Tekmar is recorded in the library's archive. Every product entered into the library is given a number, which is entered into the library's computers along with which region the stone came from, which quarry produced it, what day it was produced and to which customers it was shipped. To assure the completeness of our library's archive and make certain it is of maximum benefit to our customers, all library records are maintained for a minimum of 5 years.

Photo Library

We make it a point to photograph slabs and send these photos, via Internet, to customers who request them. These photos are also stored for reference in our marble library.

Environmental Responsibility

Since its founding, Tekmar has been notable for its environmental responsibility. Tekmar's waste water treatment facility is the largest in the Turkish marble industry and clear evidence of the spirit of environmental awareness and responsibility that informs all operations at our Bilecik Factory and Yataưan Quarry. The water treatment facility is composed of three Macon brand waste water treatment units which include a total of six silos. The facility, whose first unit went into service in 1993, is designed to input clean water back into the system.

Quarries

Tekmar's 6 quarries work around the clock, 365 days a year, using the latest technology to supply the quality marble world markets demand.

Bilecik, Mugla, Finike

Bilecik

The Bilecik Quarry is located just 15 kilometers from the Bilecik city center and has direct access to the main highway. A temperate climate and extensive machine park make it possible for the Bilecik Complex to operate continuously. Additionally, for our customers' convenience and our workers' safety, the Complex's helipad makes it easy to access by air.

The Tekmar Bilecik Complex operates three independent quarries. The Crema Nuova Quarry produces a beige marble, the Crema Nuova Beige Quarry produces marble of a lighter beige and the Rosalia Quarry produces pink and red veined beige marble. The Bilecik Complex's extensive reserves create a continuity of product selections that makes marble from this region the stone of choice in major international building projects.

The Bilecik Complex's machine park includes 20 Benetti diamond wire saw machines, 5 drilling machines, 4 Caterpillar and 1 Komatsu earth-moving machines, 1 Volvo truck and integrated air compressors as well as complete electrical and water systems. This extensive machine park is central to the Bilecik Complex's ability to produce year-round.

The Mugla/Yatagan Complex

Our Yatagan Quarry Complex is located in the heart of Caria, the region that was home to antique cities such as Aphrodisias, Didyme, Miletus, Priene, Iassos and Halicarnassos. The Yatagan Quarry Complex, the largest of its kind in Turkey, yields the same kind of beautiful stone that decorated the famous region's magnificent ancient cities.

Thanks to the area's temperate climate, the Yatagan Quarry Complex is also able to operate year-round. The Complex produces three fine varieties of marble. Rosa Bellissimo marble, a variety unique to Tekmar, is primarily white with a faint pink cast and light grey veining. Bianco Rosa, which comes from a quarry just a few miles from the Rosa Bellissimo quarry, is white with faint pink and grey veins. The Bianco Royal quarry produces marble that is similar to Rosa Bellissimo but has more pronounced grey veins.

The Complex's machine park includes 25 diamond wire saw machines, 8 drilling machines, 7 Caterpillar earth-moving machines and 3 Volvo trucks as well as fully automatic air compressors and full water and electrical systems, which keep the facility working around the clock.

To ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and to minimize any downtime, the complex has a fully-equipped maintenance facility able to accommodate up to 6 work vehicles. In addition, the complex features luxury accommodations for three guests and comfortable workers' dormitories as well as a helipad.

To minimize turn-around time and provide our customers with better service, we have built a quarry-side plant with an annual production capacity of 400,000 m2. The factory's production equipment includes 2 multi-disc block cutters, a splitting machine, a complete tile line and a portal crane with a capacity of 35 tons.

The Finike Complex

Tekmar's Finike Complex produces limestone identical to that used in the Lymra region during antique times, which graces the cities of Phaselis, Olympos and Patara.

The beige colored limestone called Cremo Bello produced at our Finike Complex, in addition to being a very handsome stone, is also extremely durable, as has been proven by tests conducted in the laboratories of leading Turkish and European universities. This exceptional durability makes it an ideal choice, not only for decoration, but also for facades and exteriors.

The machine park at the Finike Complex, which operates year-round, includes 6 Benetti diamond wire saw machines, 4 drilling machines, 1 Komatsu and 2 Caterpillar earth-moving machines as well as Volvo trucks. As at Tekmar's other quarries, Finike has an integrated system of electric, water and air compressors that keeps the Complex operating continuously.
