WHAT IS STONE-TECH?

STONE-TECH is a highly expansive powder for stone quarrying, mining-concrete cutting and demolition, etc. STONE-TECH expands when mixed with common water and poured into pre-drilled holes on stone or concrete. It produces an extreme pressure of 40-100 MPa (4000-10000 t/m²) on the hole-walls after a few hours reaction time in holes, while the tensile stress of stone and concrete is 3- 10 MPa (300-1000 t/m²), thereby crack them easily. STONE-TECH is environmental friendly and produces no noise, no vibration, no toxic gases, no flying debris or residue. It helps your work more efficient and cost effective.

STONE-TECH can be used in an almost unlimited range of applications. It’s particularly used for breaking, cutting or demolishing stones, concrete and reinforced concrete. It is ideal for use in situations where surrounding buildings or other structures would be damaged by flying debris or vibration. It maximizes production time, product output and therefore profits, in quarrying and mining as it avoids waste of valuable stone.

WHERE CAN STONE-TECH BE USED?

STONE-TECH can be used on any type of stone formation, concrete, reinforced concrete or tiled structure in:

  • Quarrying and stone cutting.
  • Removing boulders.
  • Excavating foundations.
  • Leveling stones for road works.
  • Excavating trenches for pipe-laying.
  • Underground excavations.
  • Demolition of concrete or reinforced concrete objects.
  • Demolition of foundations.
  • Demolition of breakwaters or jetties.
  • Demolition of tiled and refractory structures, and more.

STONE-TECH provides the most technically suitable and cost-effective solution in:

  • Restricted demolition of stone and concrete structures where nearby structures must be protected from vibration generated by explosions;
  • Pre-splitting of stone formations, to create isolated blocks that can then be more easily demolished;
  • Cutting blocks of marble and granite more economically than that of the traditional wire saw method;
  • Excavations and demolition of stone or concrete structures where the use of explosives would be expensive due to long operating times, special transport, storage, handling precautions and the need to comply with public safety regulations.

WHY DO YOU USE STONE-TECH?

  • Works more efficient and cost-effective than diamond wire-saw method in quarrying, stone cutting.
  • Much safer than explosives: It’s Non-explosive with no noise, no vibration, no toxic gases and no flying debris.
  • Environmental friendly.
  • Easy to use: No special training and equipments needed. Unskilled labor can be very easily trained to use STONE-TECH in a short time. Just mix the powder with common water and fill into pre-drilled holes. It will break the objects automatically.
  • No special permission and license required. STONE-TECH is a non-combustible and non-explosive material, and does not belong to dangerous categories. Therefore it’s safe and no limit for transportation, storage and use.

HOW TO USE STONE-TECH?

PREPARATION:

Firstly, please measure the temperature of the jobsite, demolition agent, water, stone/concrete and container. Make sure that temperatures are in compliance with requirements. Select proper type of product according to the jobsite temperature.

The following objects are to be prepared:

  • Demolition agent;
  • Clean and cold water;
  • Plastic or metal bucket;
  • Beater or wooden rod for mixing;
  • Safety goggles;
  • Rubber gloves;
  • Dust-proof mask (Recommended);
  • Helmet (Recommended);
  • Thermometer (Recommended)

DRILLING HOLES:

The distance between two holes varies depending on the type of material to be cracked or cut. Diameter of hole is crucial to the cracking results. Too small holes are not in favor of good performance of the agent, while too big holes may cause blowout shoots.

MIXING MORTAR:

STONE-TECH is a kind of powder that must be thoroughly mixed with clean and cold water before use. In a ratio of about 25% of the overall weight, please put the required volume of water 1.5 - 1.7 liters into a plastic or metal bucket, then gradually add one bag of 5 kg of STONE-TECH powder into water and stir all the time to obtain smooth, lump-free slurry. If mixing has to be made by hand, rubber gloves are required to wear. Longer mixing time increases likelihood of blowout shoot.

FILLING HOLES

For vertical holes, pouring STONE-TECH mortar into holes directly. Tamp the mortar filled into the holes by a slightly smaller stamp stem. For very long holes, tamp the mortar section by section.

For horizontal and slant holes, insert a slightly smaller plastic pipe into the hole, and then fill the mortar into the pipe slowly, withdrawing the pipe from the hole simultaneously. Tamp the mortar section by section.

CRACKING OBJECT

The chemical reaction of STONE-TECH and water generates heat. If the reaction goes too quickly, the temperature can be above the boiling point of water before all the water has chemically combined with STONE-TECH®. This can result in a steam-driven explosion which blows the STONE-TECH mortar from the holes with sudden force.

The cracks appears in 1-6 hours after filling of STONE-TECH mixture. It varies depending on material of cracking object, hole design and temperature. STONE-TECH continue to increase pressure for 3 days.

TYPES OF STONE-TECH® AVAILABLE

Chemical reaction of STONE-TECH® depends on the temperature of the breaking object. Use the proper type accordingly as follows:

SCA-I: For object temperature 25-35
SCA-II: For object temperature 15-25
SCA-III: For object temperature 5-15
SCA-IV: For object temperature -5-5
SCA-H: For object temperature 35-45

STONE-TECH has two groups of products different in chemical reaction time:

  • Fast speed reaction product: 1-3 hours’ reaction time.
  • Slow speed reaction product: 6 hours’ reaction time.

PACKAGING & STORAGE

STONE-TECH is packed in plastic bags of 5kg net each, 4 bags to one carton box, 50 carton boxes to one pallet (1 MT).

Keeping STONE-TECH in a dry place.
Shelf life is one year.

TIPS ON HOW TO USE STONE-TECH

  • For the best possible use and to obtain best results, it is advisable to carry out experiment with STONE-TECH® before starting work.
  • When using STONE-TECH with highly absorbent materials like concrete, the holes should be dampened before the mortar is poured, making sure however, that there is no presence of water.
  • Large diameter holes positioned closer together accelerate breaking times.
  • Make sure the holes are clean and no water and residues left in the holes, or use high-pressure air hose to clean out.
  • Fresh mortar should be poured into holes within 5 minutes after mixing.
  • Do not mix more than 2 bags (10 kg) for each lot at a time.
  • The feeding depth should be 100% of the pre-drilled holes.
  • Do not plug the holes after filling. Cover them only in the event of rain by a waterproof sheet.
  • The workers on duty have to take synchronized operation, especially to hard stone. • The quantity of holes each worker responsible to fill has to be moderate. All the workers on duty shall take synchronized steps when mixing, stirring and filling, which is the guarantee of maximum expansive stress of all holes occurring at the same time.
  • STONE-TECH can only be used in holes. It will not work in existing cracks of stones or concretes.
  • Never fill glass or metal containers with STONE-TECH mixture, or any container which widens towards the bottom. The pressure will shatter the container.
  • If mixed STONE-TECH begins to steam in the mixing container, add some water to dilute and throw it away to an open surface.

HOW TO PREVENT BLOWOUT SHOOTS?

Although it’s highly unlikely, the mortar might blowout from the filled holes violently if the following instructions have not been followed correctly:

  • Using correct type of STONE-TECH according to the temperature.
  • Too large hole diameter may result in blowout.
  • Too shallow holes may result in blowout. Depth must be 4 times diameter or more.
  • Lots of dry dust in holes will absorb water from mortar and result in blowout.
  • Cooling STONE-TECH powder, water, mixing tools before mixing.
  • Using enough mixing water and mixing thoroughly avoiding lump formation.
  • Do not mix manually more than 10kg (2 bags) for each lot.
  • Pour the mixture into holes within 5 minutes after mixing.
  • Do not over fill the holes.
  • Do not plug filled holes with bars or similar tools.

SAFETY PREVENTION

  • Make sure that everyone working with STONE-TECH understands the possibility of blowouts, and has read the technical instructions thoroughly.
  • STONE-TECH is a highly alkaline product, pH reaches 13 after contact with water and can cause severe irritation to mucous membranes, especially eyes. Skin and eye contacts with STONE-TECH must be rinsed off with large amounts of cold water immediately without rubbing. Consult a doctor quickly.
  • Wear safety goggles and rubber gloves during STONE-TECH handling, mixing and filling. Dust-proof mask is recommended in poorly ventilated areas such as tunnels or mines.
  • Do not get your face close to or stand near the filled holes for at least 3 hours after filling completion.
  • Warm or bubbling mortar is forbidden to fill into holes. Once filled holes start to smoke or steam, that is the sign they may be about to blow out. Clear the area of people immediately.
  • Keep people away from jobsite after filling holes. In case of people have to remain in the area, cover filled holes with a tarpaulin.
  • Take care of fall of cracked block from the cracking object.
