Services & Facilities

The CFS which is at Numbal, Chennai (15 kms on the Chennai-Bangalore Main road) has been in operation for eight successful years now. This is perhaps the only CFS where containers are stuffed both on the ground and on wheels.

• The CFS has a covered godown space of about 200000 sq.ft. additionally about 100000 sq.ft. of Covered Bonded Warehouse space
• There is also an open shed area of about 50000 sq.ft. for handling special cargoes
• To facilitate storage of large packages and like units there is a specially earmarked area, an Open Bonded area, which is about 100000 sq.ft.
• Warehouses include additional facilities like dock levellers, fire fighting equipment, alarms, ventilation and stowage with latest fork lifts and material handling equipment

Besides the extensive facilities for exports, the CFS permits importers to store their import load containers till they are moved to other warehouses or factories for destuffing.

Under constant supervision/attendance of customs officers these containers are handled by self designed gantry cranes and other allied equipment using proper spreaders.

In keeping with world class standards the stuffing and destuffing operations are completed in twenty minutes by a team of skilled and well experienced staff. The management spares no efforts in constantly improving and upgrading its facilities by introducing the latest equipment in cargo/container handling.

As a result, a new import yard with a 40-ton gantry crane, which brings down the time for container de-stuffing and delivery to ten minutes, has been commissioned.

The entire area is made of concrete and the access roads are well maintained for smooth and fast two-way transit.

Handling Equipments

The CFS is also equipped with the most modern equipment including 6 gantries, of which one can stow containers up to seven-high, the first and only one in India. the capacities of these gantries vary from 15 to 16 MT

Other cargo equipments include:-

• 16 fork-lifts of capacities from 3 to 10 MT
• 6 tractors and trailers for 20' and 40' containers
• TCM top lifters 45 tons
• Mitsubishi fork-lift 45 tons
• 3 TCM straddle carriers of 25 MT each
• Kalmar reachstaker of 15 MT capable of seven-high stacking
• Escorts and Tusker mobile cranes of 10 MT each
• 6 imported Linde Pallet trucks of 2.5 MT each

All our ships have on board 3 x 20 TONS Komatsu Forklifts for stowing Granites inside the ships hold like matchbox to avoid damage, cracks or chippings.
