Diamond segments are used for the cutting of marble, granite and other natural stones. A diamond segment can be briefly described in structural terms as consisting of steel base (support) coated with diamond-impregnated metal bond. The bonding agent of the diamond segment should be specifically suited to the abrasive properties of the material to be processed. The crystals of the diamond segment should be capable of withstanding the harsh working conditions typically encountered. Diamond segments are manufactured in a wide range of dimensions. The manufacturers of diamond segments carry continuous research for manufacturing the types of segments to suit different kinds of natural stones to be processed. Diamond segments vary in terms of the bond, grit sizes and diamond concentration. The shape of diamond segments is usually of two types - box type and taper type. The shape of the taper type diamond segments enables smooth initial cutting. Taper diamond segments also prevent the blades from deviating. Sandwich type diamond segments are also manufactured. The sandwich type diamond segments are specially used for the large circular saws.
