Derrick Crane is a very important material handling equipment for any stone quarry. The lifting, moving, stacking and loading of the huge stone blocks is carried out with the use of jib cranes, loaders, excavators and Derrick Cranes. Of these, the Derrick Crane is the best suited and most widely used in the stone quarries. The Derrick Crane has a jib of about 40-50 meters in length. Due to the long arm of the Derrick Crane it has an extended reach in the working area of the quarry. Derrick Cranes have a lift capacity ranging from 20 tones to 60 tones. Derrick Cranes are installed with a winch unit. The winch unit of the Derrick Crane has an electric motor driven variable speed gear box, which in turn drives a helical gear box. The rotation of the Derrick Crane is made with the help of a reduction gear box and a chain of gears. The use of a Derrick Crane results in a substantially higher production output in any stone quarry.
